When someone dies, it can be hard to know where to begin - what to include in a funeral and how to say goodbye in a way that feels right.

That’s where I come in, helping you shape a meaningful, personal farewell.

My name is Emma Newman and I’m an independent funeral celebrant.

I work with families and individuals to create and deliver personal ceremonies that bring together the memories and moments that tell the story of a life.

I believe a funeral ceremony should be a meaningful reflection of a person’s life, while also offering comfort and support to those who love them.

For many people, planning a funeral is something they’ve never had to do before. It can be hard to know where to begin or what to include. Working alongside your Funeral Director, I’ll guide you through the process and support you in creating a ceremony that feels right for you and your family.

Every life is unique, and every ceremony should be too. You may want something simple and quiet, or a more uplifting tribute filled with warmth, stories and those anecdotes that made them the person they were.

Together, we’ll create something that reflects the person you’ve lost, and helps you say goodbye in a way that feels right.

You can include personal touches and any combination of religious or non-religious elements, ensuring the ceremony feels authentic and true to them.

I’ll take care of shaping the ceremony, and will gently guide the service on the day itself, supporting you throughout, and helping everything come together just as we’ve planned.

We can talk in whatever way feels easiest for you - at home, in a favourite café or pub, over the phone or simply by email.

We start with their story

We talk about the person, their relationships, how they lived, and the memories and small moments that made them who they were.

I bring their life into words

I create a ceremony that reflects their character, their values, and the impact they had on the people around them.

We shape it together

I share the ceremony with you to look through, and and make any changes. Nothing is final until you’re completely happy.

On the day itself

I’ll be there to support you and lead the ceremony, allowing you to remember, reflect, and say goodbye.

“Emma created such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that felt effortless and genuine from start to finish. She has a lovely way of connecting with people that is both meaningful and comforting. She’s clearly very talented at what she does, and families will be in very safe hands with her.”
